Cleaning Berber Carpets
Berber carpet needs to be cleaned differently than regular wool carpets. It has a different texture, is made differently, and as a result, has special cleaning needs.
One thing you should know is that Berber carpet holds water much longer than regular pile or commercial carpet. It can stay wet for 1-3 days after a cleaning whereas regular pile carpet can dry within 4-12 hours. So, when cleaning Berber, always make sure you clean it in a well-ventilated area to speed up the drying time.
Bonnet and shampoo methods work best on a very flat carpet, so they won't work well here. Berber is piled and has a pattern. Your best bet would be to steam clean (water extraction) the carpet. As always, vacuum and pre-spray the carpet first and then use the extractor.
